THG ePremiums for charging station operators
Would you like to benefit from the ePremiums for reducing greenhouse gases? Here you will find the most frequently asked questions.
What is a GHG eQuota?
The greenhouse gas reduction obligation is a climate protection instrument with the aim of reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, particularly in the transport sector. Companies, such as mineral oil companies, which put fossil fuels (e.g. diesel or petrol) into circulation and thus contribute significantly to CO2 emissions, are obliged by GHG eQuotas to reduce their emissions by a fixed annual percentage. In addition, they are obliged to substitute a fixed percentage of the fuels they put into circulation with a biofuel. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in fines.
Why should I register?
epuls is a platform consisting of experienced experts in the fuel and sustainability industry that offers you everything on the subject of GHG eQuotas for sustainable fuels from a single source. Thanks to our experience, know-how and network of partners, we can achieve the best conditions, while the process is stress-free, uncomplicated and quick for you.
How high is my THG ePremium?
For every kWh of electricity supplied at a charging point, you will receive a GHG ePremium of approx. 25 ct, depending on current market prices.
Can I register any charging station?
No, the prerequisite is the operation of one or more public or semi-public charging stations.
What is the difference between public, semi-public and non-public charging stations?
Public charging stations enable charging at a freely accessible charging station, such as those provided by municipal utilities or a charging network. You can charge your vehicle here at any time.
Semi-public charging stations are generally only accessible to certain user groups (e.g. customer parking spaces) or for a limited period of time.
Non-public charging stations are, for example, wall boxes belonging to private individuals, which are only intended for charging their own vehicles.
For which year can I apply for a THG ePremium?
You can currently apply for ePremiums for the current calendar year 2023 until 31.12.2023. In order to determine the exact amount of your GHG ePremium, we will need you to provide us with the exact amount of kWh of electricity charged per charging point and calendar year 2023 after the end of the year. We will contact you in this regard at the beginning of 2024 if you are already registered with us.
When will the ePremium for my charging points be paid out?
As an operator of public, semi-public and non-public charging stations, you can contact us at any time to register the quantities of electricity charged and the corresponding proof with us.
As soon as it is legally clarified how the records from the charging points are to be verified, we will contact you reliably and inform you about the further procedure.
However, we will then have to wait until the end of the year to be able to determine the exact annual amount of electricity charged at your charging points (in kWh).
If all requirements are met, you can expect the ePremium to be transferred to your account at the beginning of 2024.
How often is the THG ePremium paid out?
A payment is made once per calendar year. For this reason, we will also check once a year that your data is up to date and the exact amount of electricity charged. You will receive a THG ePremium as long as you are the official operator of one or more charging points.
Can I register several charging stations?
Yes, that's no problem at all. Simply enter the number of charging points on the application form
What information about my non-public charging points must be provided for successful registration?
- To identify the individual charging points, we need a charging point number for each charging point.
- The exact address of the respective charging points.
- Date of commissioning of the charging points (and date of dismantling if this took place during the year).
- At the end of the year: records of the unique amount of electricity charged per kWh and charging point. It can be assumed that the proofs are records of the individual charging processes from the backend system of the charging stations. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to provide you with more detailed information at this time, as we are still awaiting instructions from the Federal Environment Agency. As soon as we have more information, we will of course pass it on to you as soon as possible.
What information about my semi-public charging points must be provided for successful registration?
To successfully register the verifiable charging quantities at my non-public charging points, you must provide information on the following points:
- The vehicle identification numbers (VIN, see registration certificate) for the vehicles that are mainly charged at these charging points, as well as copies of the corresponding registration certificates Part 1 (front and back).
- The exact address of the respective charging points.
- Date of commissioning of the charging points (and date of dismantling if this took place during the year).
- At the end of the year: records of the unique amount of electricity charged per kWh and charging point. As soon as we have more information, we will of course pass it on to you as soon as possible.
What information about my public charging points must be provided for successful registration?
- To identify the individual charging points, we need the unique identification number (EVSE ID) for each charging point
- If you do not yet have any EVSE IDs, you must register your charging points with E-Control before registering - you can do this HERE. HERE is an explanation of what an EVSE ID is and what it looks like.
- In addition, you must guarantee/ensure that you are the legal operator of the charging points in economic, technical or legal terms. If this is not the case, please ensure this in advance with a document confirming that only you are authorized to submit this application and enclose it.
